UEFA Europa League Group stage – Thursday, 29 September, 18:00- Letzigrund Stadium
Umaru Bangura has been ruled out of this Thursday’s Europa league tie due to a thumb injury.
The 28-year-old underwent a surgery on his left thumb finger last Tuesday and was given a three weeks recovery period.
Bangura, who was part of the FC Zurich’s side that suffered a 2-1 defeat in Spain to Villarreal in the first round of the Europa League ground stage, will certainly miss important league matches.
He was instrumental in the FC Zurich 2-0 cup victory over Bellinzona last Sunday at the Stadium Comunale.
They host Turkey’s Osmanlispor in a very important contest and following their 2-1 defeat at Villarreal on match-day one, Zürich have gone four games without a win in Europe.
The Swiss side (Zürich) qualified for this year’s Europa League competition as winners of the 2015/16 Swiss Cup but were relegated from the Swiss Super League in the same season.
Osmanlispor tops Group L after their impressive 2-0 thrashing over Romanian side FC Steaua București.
Bangura signed for the Swiss side on August 4, 2016, on a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee.
