The striker Victor Mansaray has signed a one-half-deal with the Swedish third tier side Umeå FC.

The Sierra Leone striker flew into Sweden on Friday as Seattle Sounders confirmed his exit on their official website.

“We would like to thank Vic for his contributions to Sounders FC over the past three years and wish him success as he approaches the next step in his career path,” said Sounders FC General Manager and President of Soccer Garth Lagerwey.

“It was a long journey. 11-12 hours, but it went well. It’s a new challenge for me and I’m looking forward to it, Mansaray after signing told the club’s official website:

“I’ve also played with a Swedish, Gustav Svensson (formerly IFK Göteborg), and he wishes me good luck before I left.

“I felt it was time for me to leave Seattle and test the wings in Europe. Now I got the chance and it’s up to me to make the best of it.

“I’ve worked well in Seattle so I’m in shape, feeling strong. I look forward to meeting the guys, the striker added.

At the age of 18 years and 34 days, Mansaray became the youngest player in franchise history to appear in a match.

Mansaray, 20, signed with Seattle prior to the 2015 season and played in three MLS matches.

The Sierra Leone native was part of the Leone Stars preparation prior to the 2-1 victory over Kenya in Freetown, in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations first leg qualifying on June 10.

Umeå based outfit presently standing second in their Norra div 1 table 9 points adrift from IK Brage with 13 matches to go.
