Swedish top flight side AFC Eskilstuna are preparing for life without their top striker and Sierra Leone international Mohamed Buya Turay.
Turay, 22, has been a top transfer target for many top Swedish and European clubs and AFC sporting director Azad Budak has said they will consider the economy with the right fee.
He was the club’s top scorer last season registering ten Superettan goals helping the club to automatic promotion into the Swedish top-flight.
Turay, who signed a new two-year contract extension in December 2016, which will keep him at the club until 2019, bagged his fifth goal of the season last Sunday against AIK at the Friend Arena in Solna, Stockholm.
According to Fotbolldirekt sources, both Swedish and foreign clubs have made concrete bids some of which AFC considered to be weak.
“Some have been more concrete than others,” Azad Budak told FotbollDirekt.se and continued.
“But, we want it to be right both for us and for the player, we also are in a difficult position on table position and he is a key player for us.
“We have to consider the economy, Turay is a fantastic player for us, but it is important to get the right money for the club and also be a good step for the player.”
“He has been doing well, but we are last on the table and he plays as he does, he delivers goals and assists.
“Had he been in a top club he had probably scored ten goals by now and might already have been sold abroad. He takes steps all the time, so it’s very positive.”
AFC take on league leaders Malmö FF today at their Tunavallen, Eskilstuna 15:00 hours CEST – Central European Summer Time.
