Kei Kamara scored his first career hat trick to help the New England Revolution beat Orlando City 4-0 on Saturday night.
He becomes the 12th Member of MLS’ Triple-Digit Club.
“I’m 33. I think it just came at the right time,” Kamara told clubs website with a smile as he held his young daughter Kierin in his arms during his postgame press conference. “There have to be a few threes in your age before you can get that.”
The veteran striker added, “It was one of those days I just felt good from warm-ups,” Kamara said. “Every ball was going into the back of the net. I was like, ‘Wow, this just feels like a special day today.”
Kamara gave the Revolution the lead in the 26th minute with a leaping right-footed stab from close range to finish Scott Caldwell’s cross.
He registered his second in the 75th minute after a give-and-go with Lee Nguyen before completing his hattrick by finishing a breakaway in the 89th.
It was Kamara’s 11th goal of the season and the 100th goal of his MLS career.
Teal Bunbury capped the scoring for the Revs in the second minute of second-half stoppage time.
