Kei Kamara scored his 100th MLS regular season goal in the 28th minute and Brek Shea doubles their lead early in the second half as Vancouver Whitecaps beat the Houston Dynamo 2-1 on Saturday night at BBVA Compass Stadium.

“It’s an honour to really be playing for the Whitecaps now and reaching this milestone for this club,” said Kamara, who was playing in his overall 300th MLS games. “Not just that, I’m playing against one of the teams I used to play with the Dynamo. Kei Kamara poised to make 300th MLS’s career appearance

“We were able to get three points tonight so not just the goal or the milestone, it’s a big game so it was good.”

Kamara has scored twice in as many games. The Sierra Leone-born, in his 12th season in MLS, has scored goals for the Whitecaps, Columbus Crew SC, Sporting KC, Houston, San Jose Earthquakes and New England Revolution.

He becomes the 10th player to achieve the milestone, last reached by Earthquakes forward Chris Wondolowski on May 24, 2015.

Kamara is resilient of one greater milestone – that is winning his first MLS Cup.

“One thing that’s not under my belt is a championship ring,” Kamara said. “That’s the focus, that’s what I’m playing for right now and hopefully I’m able to get to that pretty soon.”
