FC Cincinnati have announced the signing of Sierra Leone international Michael Lahoud, pending USL and federation approval.

Lahoud, 31, made over 50 appearances for Miami FC in the North American Soccer League (NASL) over the last two seasons.

The United Soccer League (USL) Eastern Conference side, have won two of their opening four league matches and Lahoud will be expecting to make his debut on Sunday, April 22 against Pittsburgh Riverhounds at home.

FCC head coach Alan Koch told club’s website “We are incredibly excited to bring Michael into the group.

“We are adding another excellent player who is very versatile. We look forward to welcoming him to the team and getting him up to match fitness as quickly as possible. His addition will add to the excellent healthy competition that we already have in the group.”

Technical director Luke Sassano added, “The opportunity to add a player with his experience, quality, and versatility to our already deep roster is another step forward as we push to achieve our goals this year. His professionalism and mentality reflect our core player principles, and we look forward to his contributions to FCC both on and off the field.”

Lahoud made his Leone Stars debut in a 3-2 victory over Equatorial Guinea during the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification match.

He was a pivotal player under former coach Johnny McKinstry playing in over four qualifying matches.

The experienced midfielder has four caps for Sierra Leone and was part of the Sierra Leone side that defeated Kenya 2-1 in the opener of the 2019 AFCON qualifier in Freetown on June 10, 2017.
