ENGLAND: Osman Kakay is in line to get the nod against Preston for Queens Park Rangers in the opening weekend of the English Championship next Saturday.

The Sierra Leone native, who broke into the first team last season, is in top gear ready to replace Darnell Furlong who is expected to be out for the first three weeks of the new campaign.

The QPR academy defender has been a regular under new boss Steve McClaren throughout the pre-season.

Kakay, 20, scored a brilliant goal 56 minutes in QPR’s 7-0 victory over against Staines Town July 13.

The promising young defender told club’s website: “The way the game is you get opportunities in ways you might not have wanted.”

“If the Opportunity comes I am ready for it. The gaffer has been telling me to carry on working as usual and show people what i can do.”

He made his debut in QPR’s 2-1 victory over Rochdale in the EFL Cup tie in August 2016.

His first professional debut was in the Scottish Championship in January during a loan spell with Scottish side Livingston.

In Scotland, he played 12 times last season for Livingston.

USA MLS: Kei Kamara scored Vancouver Whitecaps third goal in their 4-2 over Minnesota United on Saturday night, July 28, at BC Place.

Alphonso Davies scored two goals and added a pair of assists for the host team Vancouver Whitecaps.

Kamara put the Whitecaps up 3-0 in the 64th minute as he converted a pass from Davies on a two-on-one—only two minutes after coming off the bench as a substitute.

Yordy Reyna also scored for the Whitecaps.

The veteran MLS’s striker has now scored 9 goals this season for the Whitecaps.
