Walsall boss Dean Keates has confirmed that Amadou Bakayoko is on his way out after the club accepted a bid for the striker.
The deal we understand to be completed earlier next week by fellow League One rivals Bristol Rovers.
Sierra Leone-born forward was not part of the Walsall’s 2–1 winning squad at home over Plymouth on Saturday in the season’s opener.
The striker, 22, was the subject of a bid earlier this transfer window from Accrington Stanley but the newly promoted League 1 side failed to meet the Saddlers’ valuation.
Some sources suggest that Walsall will likely receive £100,000 – £150,000 with add-ons should Baka improve at Rovers and goes onto bigger things.
Bakayoko spent last season as Walsall’s first-choice striker, scoring eight goals in all competitions.
The former Southport, Telford and Worcester forward, was named the Saddlers’ 2016/17 Young Player of the Season.
The powerful frontman impressed for Walsall at youth level and received his first professional contract during the 2013/14 season.
He scored a hat-trick on his full Saddlers debut a 5-2 Checkatrade Trophy victory over Grimsby in August 2016 – and went on to plunder a further seven goals that campaign.
