South African giant club Orlando Pirates proved too strong as they thrashed Horoya AC 3-0 in their CAF Champions League Group B match at the Orlando Stadium on Friday.
The victory was Pirates first in the group, while Guinean champions Horoya slipped down to first from the bottom.
In the opening exchanges, the Francophone team from Western Africa threatened first through Ocansey Mandela, who curled the ball wide of the target following a good move by HAC.
But the host was resilient and, as the game progresses took control of the match.
Augustine Mulenga and Justin Shonga were both denied by Horoya goalkeeper Abdoulaye Kante.

Late on in the second half, a brace from Juston Shonga in the 73′ and 76′ minutes completed the big victory for the South Africans.
The victory took the South African giants to the top of the Group B standings.
Elsewhere in the group, Tunisian side Esperance Tunis also registered their first win beating Zimbabwe’s FC Platinum 2-0 at the Stade Olympique d’El Menzah on Friday night.
After two group matches, the Tunisian stand second behind Pirates.
