Sierra Leone Premier League clubs have been handed a huge boost ahead of the much-talked-about 2019 football season after the League Board presented changing boards, sets of nets to all participating teams.
Nine player changing boards and nine sets of nets were presented to the thirteen (13) top-tier clubs by the Premier Board to be used across nine venues commencing Sunday 27 January.
The main venues are Freetown National Stadium, Makeni Wusum Stadium, Kenema Town min-stadium, Bo multi-purpose stadium and Eastern Province Kono 10,500 soccer field.
In a related development, business Guru and football philanthropist, Ibrahim Jalloh, contributed two full sets of jerseys to each of the 13 Sierra Leone top-flight clubs.
The Premier Board Chairman, Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai, who has been zealously working 24/7 in certifying a smooth transition after almost five years without a League, stated the Board is seeking best facilities for the smooth running of the League.
“The board is still seeking tireless means to bring more dynamics to the game, and if they do, will be for the benefit of all.”
“We’re are still using the funds provided to us by the government and still knocking on the doors of more sponsors who could come on board and make this league a success”, the human rights barrister detailed.
Clubs officials in attendance expressed gratitude to what they highlighted as a step in the right direction by the PLB for the good of the game.
In another development, the full fixtures of the two-legged premier league were shared out to the club representatives and journalists thereafter.
Two of Sierra Leone’s most successful and decorated clubs will kick off the league’s opener this Sunday 1800 hours at the Siaka Steven Stadium in photo set for action.
