Sierra Leone men’s soccer team back to International football after Fifa lifted eight months of suspension, did not gain or lose in latest global rankings published on Friday, June 14 2019.
The Leone Stars of Sierra Leone remained at 115th position with 1172 points the same as April 2019.
Sierra Leone stagnation was due to their disqualification from the 2019 Afcon qualifiers. They were unable to continue in the race despite beating Kenya 2-1 in the competition opener in Freetown.
Sierra Leone last game was a 1-0 defeat in Ethiopia during their second qualifiers September last year before facing disqualification by CAF.
On the continental rating, they are ranked as the 27th best.
Meanwhile, Senegal remains Africa’s highest ranked national team at 22nd spot followed by Tunisia’s Carthage Eagles on 25th in the world.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria are third as the 45th best ranked despite sliding three places from previous rankings.
Morocco (47), DR Congo (49) occupy the fourth and fifth spots respectively.
