- Sierra Leone to open World Cup 2022 campaign in Monrovia
- Both nations played to a goalless draw at the Samuel K. Doe Sports Complex in a friendly during Lib’s Independence Day encounter Sunday, July 22, 2018.
Sierra Leone will travel to the Liberian capital Monrovia, to open their 2022 World Cup preliminary Qualifiers first week September with the return fixture billed for Freetown a week after.
The last meeting between the two neighbours was a goalless friendly in 2018 during Liberian independence Day celebration at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Stadium.
Confederation of African Football conducted the draws featuring 28 lower-ranked teams in Cairo on Monday.
The 14 winners will join the continent’s top-ranked exempted 26 sides from the September round of qualifiers, in the next draw to be held on a date still to be decided.
