- Premiership side Everton have confirmed the signing of Mainz midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin on a five-year contract for £25m.
- The 23-year-old is delighted with his move to the Premiership club.
“It’s a big moment with a lot of emotion, and now it’s on me to prove on the pitch why they bought me,” Gbamin told Everton tv.
“I’m excited because Everton is a great club here in England with a big history and ambition, so I didn’t think for more than a moment I wanted to come here.
Gbamin has won 11 international caps with Ivory Coast. He moved to Mainz in 2016, where he made 86 Bundesliga appearances scoring three goals.
The defensive midfielder was part of the Ivory Coast squad at the recent Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt and made three appearances for The Elephants as they reached the quarter-finals.
