• Osman Kakay is optimistic that his recent form will earn him a recall to the Sierra Leone national team after joining Scottish Championship side Partick Thistle from QPR on a loan until January.
  • Sierra Leone will open their 2021 African Cup of Nations campaign against the Crocodiles of Lesotho on the 13th of November before travelling to take on Benin in matchday two of the qualifiers.

Kakay, 22, who made his international debut against Ethiopia during the 2019 African Nations Cup qualifier, has been an important player for the Jags.

Since his loan move, he has played in Thistle last five games including recent 3-1 victory over Dundee last Saturday.

The right-back has been with QPR since the age of eight, coming through the youth system and went on to make 12 first-team appearances for the R’s before his departure to Scotland.

When answering questions from this medium, he said, “Yes, I am ready to return having missed the previous games due to injury. I am back playing well enjoying my football again,” he told FSL News.

“It was a great experience coming on to play my first 20 minutes against Ethiopia on my debut. I’m optimistic because I always want to be part of the national set-up when I am fit. I am fully fit again and ready. Hopefully, I get the call.”

“Since moving to Scotland, I have played five games on loan.”
