Sierra Leone striker Mohamed Buya Turay has parted ways with Swedish champions Djurgården after loan spell expires, the club has said.

15 goals in 29 matches Buya won the title and the 2019 golden boot during his loan spell at the club.

It was Turay’s goal that completed a superb comeback from two goals down as Djurgarden won the Allsvenskan league title after a 2-2 draw away to Norrkoping on a dramatic final day of the 2019 Swedish season.

“Buya Turay became Swedish Champion and winner of the Golden boot 2019. Now the loan agreement expires, we want to thank him for his time at the club,” the club said in a statement.

“Djurgården’s loan agreement for Buya Turay has expired the whole association, want to thank him for the unforgettable efforts in Djurgårdströjan, for his time in the club which resulted in both a shitty win and the title of Swedish Champion.”

“Thank you for your efforts in Djurgårdströjan, Buya! And good luck with your continued football career.”

Turay is still in contract with Belgian side Saint-Truidense where he made six appearances with a goal to his name before his Djurgården loan spell in January.
