The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has set October 2020 as the new date to commence work on the Kenema state of the Art Artificial Turf Project.

The FA, in partnership with the world football governing body, FIFA in February, launched the project and was expected to be ready in May 2020.

However, the SLFA says it has briefly postponed the project launched in February due to the current covid-19 pandemic and the pending rainy season.

“Work is expected to resume in October 2020, subject to the lifting of health and travel regulations, during which the rains would have also subsided.

FIFA and SLFA’s position during the COVID-19 pandemic is to prioritise health and safety. The project contractors (Edel Grass) are therefore respecting travel restrictions and health measures set by the Government of Sierra Leone and restrictions in their home countries,” the SLFA said in a statement.
