• Keeper Christain Caulker made his Mid-Atlantic Conference side debut for Maryland bobcats on Thursday in a barren draw against New Amsterdam FC at Evergreen Sports Complex.
  • Caulker was named in the Bobcats’ first-team squad in matchday two of the National Independent Soccer Association (NISA) cup competition.
  • The Sierra Leonean keeper joined the club in February this year, but the Covid-19 pandemic forced the league to scrap this season. However, the NISA event has given all clubs a chance to compete.

Meanwhile, matches in the region were suspended Thursday, August 6th due to weather.

The clubs and league are working together to determine when the matches will be replayed.

Last Sunday, Maryland Bobcats played to a 1-1 against FC Baltimore Christos. Tunde Akinlotsu gave FC Baltimore Christos a 28th-minute lead before Kay Banjo knotted things up, converting a penalty kick in the 84th minute.

On the final day on Sunday 9th, New Amsterdam plays FC Baltimore while the Cosmos takes on Maryland bobcats.

This year Mid-Atlantic Region NISA cup matches between Maryland Bobcats, New York Cosmos, New Amsterdam, and FC Baltimore, are a round-robin tournament with every team taking on each other once and the champion being crowned off of the total number of points.

All Independent Cup matches are streamed on the league website.
