• Cameroonian-born Borussia Dortmund’s striker Youssoufa Moukoko has become the youngest goalscorer in the German top-tier, Bundesliga.
  • Moukoko, 16, came off the bench for Erling Haaland to register his goal in the 60th minute in their 2-1 defeat away to Union Berlin on Friday.

His goal means Moukoko became the youngest goalscorer at the age of 16 years in the German top-tier.

Moukoko achieved the feat, but Dortmund suffered a shock dent in their title chase.

He broke Florian Wirtz’s record which was set six months ago at the age 17 years and 34 days old at the time when he registered a goal for Leverkusen towards the end of the 2019-20 season.

Goals from Hertha Berlin’s Taiwo Awoniyi and Marvin Friedrich in the 57th and 78th minutes respectively were enough to sink Dortmund.
Background
Born in Yaoundé, Cameroon, Moukoko has represented the German U16 national team in a 3-1 win over Austria on 11 September 2017 two days later, in his second match against the same opponent, he scored both goals for Germany in a 2–1 victory.
