• Sierra Leone has been disqualified from the West African Football Union Zone A 17 tournament in Senegal.
  • Although, they were already eliminated after their opening two defeats. However, the SLFA says they received a communication with a decision from the Confederation of African Football, CAF that Sierra Leone U 17 National team has been disqualified from the qualifying tournament in Senegal due to failed MRI test of some players.
  • Mauritania replaced the Gambia who was also found guilty of age fraud.

The WAFU ‘A’ Zone qualifying tournament was to pave the way for the Total U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco 2021.

It’s not clear the type of punishment CAF will impose on the Sierra Leone Football Association.

Meanwhile, before their released Sierra Leone U17 teams suffered a 5-0 thrashing to Mali at the Stade Lat Dior in Thies Senegal brought an end to Sierra Leone’s hopes of progressing to the men’s U17 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Sunday.

After their opening 1-0 defeat to Guinea Bissau, Sierra Stars went into their final group game knowing they needed to win. A loss would end their chances of qualifying or progressing to the next stages of the competition.

The top two from each group will play the semi-finals, and the finalists will represent the zone at the AFCON finals.
