Four former Sierra Leonean internationals have been added to John Keister’s coaching team ahead of the African Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

One of the most skilful players that ever come out of Sierra Leone, Lamin Conteh, who played football in BoavistaBeerschot VAC in Belgium, and former under-17 coach Lamin Bangura have started work immediately.

The two others are Kemokai Kallon and Julius Gibrilla Wobay, who earned over 36 caps with the Leone Stars.

SLFA says their service will end after Leone Stars’ Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) campaign in Cameroon.

The four new names will join first and second assistant Amidu Karim, Dominic Konneh, Prince Tamba Moses and Sam Obi Metzger, technical Coordinator.

Bangura and Conteh, who is widely known as Junior Tumbu, were both in the 1994 and 1996 Africa Cup of Nations Sierra Leone squad for the finals in Tunisia and South Africa, respectively.

Kemoikai Kallon made 1994 in Tunisia but was not part of 1996. Woobay, who scored for Sierra Leone against Kenya during the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, is the only one without Afcon finals experienced.

On their appointment, a football expert who wants to remain anonymous said: “The four ex-national icons have a wealth of experience to help John Keister strategies ahead of the African Cup of Nations.”

“These guys can inspire the young players in the squad, and their presence can bring more belief and energy in the dressing room.”

Sierra Leone will continue with its preparation ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon next year.

The Leone Stars is expected to play Comoros this month in a friendly during the Fifa International window in Turkey.
