Following their October and November international friendly matches, Sierra Leone moved one place down from 107th to 108th in the lastest Fifa rankings published on Friday 19th November 2021.
The Leone Stars played four friendly games, of which they won one (2-1 against the Gambia) and drew in one (1-1 against South Sudan) before losing to Morocco home-based side during October’s training camp.
A week ago, they were defeated by Comoros in Turkey 2-0 in their final preparation ahead of the African Cup of Nations.
In Africa, Sierra Leone ranked as the 25th best side while Senegal has kept their first place (20th overall), followed by Morocco (28th overall), Tunisia (29th overall), Algeria (32nd overall), and Nigeria (36th overall).
Sierra Leone will open their campaign against reigning champions Algeria at the 50,000 seater Japoma stadium on 11th Jan 2022. Kick-off 13 hrs.
The next FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking will be published on 23 December 2021.
