Sierra Leone midfielder John Kamara made his Politehnica Iași debut in a goalless in the Romania second-tier league against Viitorul Şelimbăr on Saturday.
Kamara, 33, joined the club last week until the end of the season with an option for an extension next season.
“It was my first match so far – the league is competitive, lots of energy. Feels good to be back on the pitch after the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon,” Kamara told FSL News just after the match.
‘We played well but were unable to take our chances late on in the second half. Performance-wise, I was happy.”
The result means they continue their fight to stay in the division with 25 points from 20 games. Kamara was introduced in 54th-minutes replacing Belmin Muratovic.
Politehnica Iași takes on Dacia Unirea Brăila at home on the 2nd of April in the race to stay up.
Due to club commitment, Kamara will not be part of the Leone Stars trip in Turkey starting next week.
