The newly renovated Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville, Liberia set to host Sierra Leone 2022 African Nations Championship qualifier against Mali.

The Liberia Football Association, LFA, have accepted a request from Sierra Leone Football Association to use the newly renovated Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville for upcoming international matches.

Head Coach Francis Zappa Koroma’s side progressed 3-2 on aggregate to face Mali in the final qualifying round on 27 July 2022 despite a 2-1 defeat to Cape Verde in the African Nations Championship second leg qualifier at the Grand Stade de Marrakech in Morocco.

Sierra Leone’s next task is Mali in a second-round first-leg African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier at the SKD from 26-28 August, with the second leg coming up between September 2 to 4 in Mali.

Home-based Leone Stars defeated Cape Verde 2-0 in the first leg on 24 July and lost the second leg 2-1 on 27 July at the Stade de Marrakech in Morocco.

The 2023 TotalEnergies African Nations Championship will be hosted by Algeria, who qualified as the host nation.

Morocco and Libya, under the North zone (UNAF), are automatic qualifiers for the 2023 event.

Meanwhile, Sierra Leone’s Interclub representatives and FC kallon will also host their matches at the SKD.

Bo Rogers and Algeria’s CR Belouizdad will meet in the CAF Champions League, whilst FC Kallon will take on Benin’s Buffles du Borgou in the Confederation Cup at the SKD from 9-11 September.
