The 16-year MLS veteran delightfully expressed his satisfaction after being picked to represent Major League Soccer against Arsenal on Wednesday in Washington DC at the Audi Field.

The friendly game between the MLS All-Stars and Arsenal will take place on July 19, 2023. Kickoff is at 7 pm GMT (3 pm ET). The MLS team will be managed by former Manchester United ace and current D.C. United manager Wayne Rooney.

Last month Chicago Fire announced that their leading goal scorer Kei Kamara picked by Commissioner Don Garber to the 2023 MLS All-Star Roster. His second inclusion, he was a member of the 2015 MLS All-Star Game.

The club confirmed Kamara is the first Fire player to be named to an All-Star roster since Bastian Schweinsteiger’s selection to the 2019 MLS All-Star Team.

“It is a wonderful experience for me not only to be part of the Major League All-Star but because It was the Commissioner of the MLS who picked me – that is the best part of the whole thing because it shows the number of years of my contribution to the league also demonstrated his appreciation for me to be part of the squad. It’s amazing for me,” The MLS third all-time top scorer told this Medium.

On his family going through the experience

“A good time to share with my family. My dad is here to watch me play in the US, but I never knew his first going to be the All-Star game. Yesterday, I shared a moment when I took my dad to the White House standing close to the US President Joe Biden – these are achievements way more than football for me.”

“I am grateful for the fact that I get recognised for doing what I love. It’s one of the best things ever in my career, but I must enjoy these moments.”

Motivation for the Match against Arsenal

“We are very pumped up for this game – it is not just a friendly – when we represent MLS, we must be at our best to represent Major League Soccer. Arsenal as well want to represent thei club name, but at the same time, this is a moment we all have to enjoy.”

The Ex-Sierra Leone striker earned recognition for his goals playing for ten Major League Soccer sides. Kei Kamara, 38, joined Chicago Fire in early 2023 and is now third on the list of all-time MLS top-scorers.

In addition to being named an MLS All-Star in 2015, Kamara was named to the 2015 MLS Best XI following a career-best 22-goal season for the Columbus Crew. The Sierra Leone native was also named MLS WORKS Humanitarian of the Year in 2015.
