  • Sierra Leone International Mustapha Bundu made his first FC Copenhagen appearance as a substitute in their win over AaB at the Aalborg Portland Park on Wednesday.
 
Rasmus Falk scored the all-important winner in the 79th-minute assisted by Jonas Wind as they came from behind twice to win 3-2.
 
Bundu, 23, who subbed on in the 46th minute to replace Pep Biel was impressive on his debut and has received a laudable reception after the game.
 
The win means Copenhagen standing sixth on the 3F Superliga table as travel to Hornes on Sunday.

Coach John Keister lauds famous Sierra Leone comeback

  • After guided his side to one of Africa’s most famous comeback in Nigeria, Sierra Leone coach John Keister has applauded his super subs on Friday.
  • All four of Keister’s changes providing the inspiration the Leone Stars needed coming from four-goal down to earn a remarkable 4-4 in 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Benin City, Edo State.

“We’re delighted. Playing away in Nigeria as always was going to be difficult,” Keister told journalists during his post-match.

“I think we showed Nigeria a lot of respect in the first half, but we realised we needed to bring in fresh legs and important players we left out.”

“The difference was the changes that we made. I’m not disappointed we didn’t win the match. We can’t be too greedy. We’ll take the draw to Freetown. I think it was a game of two halves.”

Meanwhile, the President of the Nigerian Football Federation Amaju Pinnick has summoned Gernot Rohr and his technical crew to a meeting on Saturday what many Nigerians described a poor showing against Sierra Leone.

Nigeria still leaders of Group L with seven points from three games but a defeat in Sierra Leone will leave the race to Cameroon wide open.

The Leone Stars are third with two points after three matches with Benin and Lesotho set to play their game on the 14th of November.

Striker Kargbo scores first Donetsk’s goal to rescue point

  • Striker Ibrahim Kargbo Junior scored late into extra time as he helped his Ukrainian side Olimpik Donetsk earned a 3-3 draw with Mariupol on Saturday.

The goal was the 20-year-old first of the season with Donetsk since his loan move from Dynamo Kyiv.

The former Crystal Palace youngster was making his eight appearances amassed 183 minutes.

Donetsk remains sixth on 13 points as they failed to win at home.

Attacker Josh Koroma gives verdict after six-goal thriller against United

  • Sierra Leone native Josh Koroma scored the leveller from outside the box against Manchester United’s Under-23 in their pre-season tie on Saturday.
  • The former Leyton Orient attacker was delighted to be working under new coach Carlos Corberán.

Huddersfield Town forward Josh Koroma was part of the side that shared six goals with Manchester United’s Under-23s in an entertaining pre-season friendly at The John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

In his post-match interview, Koroma expressed his delight after he rescued his side from defeat.

Koroma, who looked a threat from the right-wing throughout was key to Town’s come-back after the Reds’ youngsters had raced into an early 2-0 lead.

“It was very competitive. We went 2-0 unfortunate down, we could have gone under, but we didn’t. I think a draw was a fair result,” Koroma to club’s website.

Having spent the second half of last season on loan at Rotherham United, Josh has returned to Town this summer and featured in both of the Terriers’ pre-season outings, adding 65 minutes against United to the 45 he completed in midweek.

The young forward was happy to get more minutes and provide some goal contributions ahead of next weekend’s season opener against Rochdale.

“You always want to be scoring and assisting as an attacker. I’m just happy that I can help the team and hopefully, I can kick on from here.”

Koroma, 21 will be hoping he be part of Town’s opening game of the 2020/21 season, that Carabao Cup First Round tie against the Dale on Saturday.

The match will also be new Head Coach Carlos Corberán first competitive game in charge.

Sierra Leone’s Augustus Williams was delighted with his double in LA Galaxy’s 3-2 win over Portland Timbers 2 at Providence Park on contest Wednesday.

Williams opened the score in the 13th minute for the away side with a right-footed shot. Assisted by Adrián Vera with a cross.

Jonathan Perez scored his first goal of the 2020 season to give Galaxy 2-1 lead in the 78th-minute.

He completed his brace in the 94th minutes from a similar fashion receiving a cross from the right to slot in.

Portland Timbers, who entered Wednesday’s contest winless in their 12 matches, scored twice from Max Ornstil and Aaron Molloy in the 69th, and 98 minutes but was enough to rescue a point.

Williams, who was in good spirits after last night’s win, shared his delight with FSL News.

“I believed I am in good form, feeling good and confident. The team believe I can get the job done, so does the coach,” Williams to FSL News.

“I am delighted because the team trusted me. And that gives me more confident to execute for the team whenever I can.”

In-form Sierra Leonean striker Augustus Kargbo scored the vital opener in the 23rd minute as Reggio Audace overcome Novara at their Mapei Stadium – Città del Tricolore while Bari beats Carrarese.

A place for Serie B at stake

Kargbo’s goal was his ninth of the season in all competition. One more win away if they are to play next season playing in the second-highest level of Italian football.

Following a tight opening 22 minutes, the FC Crotone on loan striker capitalised from a poor back pass to tap in his side 23rd-minute opener en route to the final.
